The Lizard Stone mission is to build green energy-efficient homes that incorporate a wide range of eco-friendly design and materials. Positioning the house for maximum benefit of Passive Solar heating in winter and protection from direct sun in the summer months begins with the design phase.

PV solar panels incorporated into the standing seam roof provide interior heat and can produce energy for the grid so the home owner can benefit from the PNM Net-Metering program. Solar hot water panels on the roof provide potable hot water and in-floor heating.

Minimum energy loss is ensured through sound structural building, and use of AAC insulating block made with recycled material. We use local small diameter lumber for vigas harvested in fire-prevention forest thinning funded by grants and Santa Clara Woodworks.

Renewable resources & recycled materials are used everywhere possible - blue jean or recycled cardboard insulation, bamboo flooring, soy-based paints, natural clay finishes, clay/adobe flooring, water harvesting systems, in-floor heating, paperstone countertops and more.

Your home will be custom fit to the site, with no rearranging of the site to accommodate the home. Our homes are manageable size, comfortable living spaces.
